The Rolling Dog Ranch in Montana is a rescue for unwanted and disabled pets. They have a great blog about the daily lives of their animals.

The third link is a link to my local Humane Society, which is not only where I have gotten two of my cats but who also are wonderful in helping lower income families get cheap spays and neuters. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, please please please spay and neuter your pets. And if you're looking for a pet, there are wonderful animals in shelters and Humane Societies who need good homes. Best cat I ever had came from a shelter.
The last link is about puppy mills. If you got your dog from a pet store, it's more than likely a puppy mill animal. If you don't know what puppy mills are, you should educate yourself.
